"As + adjective + as" is a common structure we use when we describe two things that are the same.
- Today is AS COLD AS yesterday. Today is 32F. Yesterday was 32F. = SAME
- My grade on this test is AS BAD AS the grade I got last time. = SAME
- You are AS TALL AS me. = SAME
*
1) "as tall as ME" is common and accepted in day-to-day speech
2) "as tall as I AM" is considered more correct grammatically
3) "as tall as I" is correct, but is not commonly used nowadays and feels old-fashioned.
