Jerusalem, exploring an ancient underground cistern!

On Sunday, December 16, 2018 we discovered the Cistern of St Helena underneath Jerusalem, below the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in a natural cave filled with spring water. An amazing adventure, Mario and I inched our way deep, down into the bowels of this ancient city until we reached the fresh water. A bit spooky and exciting, we cautiously returned to the top of the ancient stairway which led back to the Coptic Orthodox Chapel of St Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine.
