The 'Eurovision Song Contest' is the largest ongoing live music event in the world (since 1956) with almost 200 million TV-viewers each year. Now it is planned that this great show will come to the U.S. in 2021 - under the name "American Song Contest". It will be a mixture of the Swedish "Melodifestivalen" and the original "Eurovision". The 50 States will compete for the win.

The trailer gave me chills even though I already saw it. But the fact that it is called "America" when only US states are participating has no interest. The winner should organize the whole thing and I don't think that a small states in the US could organize it.

If it is a state vs. state competition, then it will be quite a stupid premise. States like New York and California will win, every time, based solely on population. If it becomes a North American or a "The Americas" (North and South America) competition, politics will severely affect the contest. Eurovision has been plagued with political controversy, since its inception. If they want to do an awesome show, how about just doing a World Music Festival that showcases talent, rather than forces a competitiveness? The answer is simple: greed. Ratings and profit are the motives of shows like this. Unfortunately, shows like this will continue to come about, since the decline of traditional television and cable networks will force executives to try out new avenues of stirring up interest. I want that the winner will represent the United States in the real Eurovision! I hate it when they are just creating their own version but it will probably not come guys fro the asiavision songcontest they already made a website a date and the participating countries in 2017 but it was canceled and nothing has changed in the website for months
