Put that canoe seat on the floor of the canoe and you will never tip over. Sitting high on the canoe seat is inherently unstable. I have a solo Pack canoe and I use a kayak paddle. Solo canoes are the way to go. They don't call tandem canoes "Divorce Boats" for nothing.
