Volvo S60 / V70 / XC70 Rear Brake Upgrade

Video shows how to install rear brakes from an XC90 onto an S60, V70 or XC70. The XC90 brakes offer larger pads and rotors (308 vs 288mm) and fit under the 16” factory wheels. No modifications are required but you will need to replace the dust shields as the smaller ones do not accommodate the larger rotors.

Note: I had no issues removing the dust shields off The XC90 at the wreckers. Hub design is slightly different and all four retaining bolts are easily accessible with a 13mm wrench.

Parking brake spring slots rotted out on my shields. This video pretty much seals the deal that I'm just going to delete the parking brake.

Easier to take the rear hubs off than going through all that bending and banging

Did you also have to get XC90 handbrake pads? Or is that the same size of the XC70 since you did not list that in the pars lits and i guess the hub size is the same on the rotors just that the brake face is bigger

I’d use Allen/hex/cap head bolts in when reassembling on those two that are right against the hub housing.

The old dust shield. Did you just bend back the old xc70 dust shield or did you put the grinder to it? Did the xc70 cause any issues after bending/cutting it?

These shields are so stupidly designed! Who in the world decided they shouldn't be able to just fit right over the wheel hub lmao...

Absolutely stupid that the only options are either a full wheel assembly rebuild basically or just brake your new shield to replace it

i'm just going to trim the lip off with a grinder instead
