Of the many cross-gen titles announced last year, one seemingly slipped through the cracks – Chorus, a space combat title from Fishlabs (of Galaxy on Fire fame) and Deep Silver.

It's out on December 3rd for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia, and promises fast-paced action with a deep single-player narrative. Let's take a look at 10 things you should know before picking it up.

I shall play CHORVS while listening to CHVRCHES

Steam demo sold me on the game.

Dogfights have all those solid Freelancer vibes, but the "rites" (special powers) keep things interesting and the ability to dodge lock-ons makes it feel more action-y

It really did slip through the cracks, this is the first I’ve heard of this and it looks like my sort of jam. Hope it reviews well

CHORVS is out since 3 December and I’m still waiting the review.
Can’t believe this game has been reviewed from just IGN only.

Anyway, no problem guys, this is my CHORVS review, I’ve been playing since day one and it’s fantastic.
Graphics shine on Series X at 60fps (on performance mode because f*** 30fps) and the combat is one of the most fun space dogfight I’ve seen in years, so frantic and satisfying.
Nara’s character growth as well as her sentient ship Forsaken are pretty linear but the powers or “rites” you can perform mid-fight are so fun and engaging, and they never get old.
In addition to that, the story isn’t very original (the classic redemption/vengeance romp), but the way it develops has a depth I’d NEVER expected in a AA game like this.
Story branches, secondary missions, choices and consequences, and the world is semi-open, the map is divided in multiple macro-areas with TONS of things to do, there’s a procedural “mini-mission” system so if you roam through the map to an objective (or even if you stay idle with your ship) it may happen that Forsaken alerts you that there’s a distress signal or enemy forces nearby, these missions are no more than 2-3 minutes long and they always give credits or mods.
And Nara and Forsaken talk to each other. A lot. I was actually surprised by how many lines of dialogue they got, and they all are well written, and most of them are lore-focused, so it’s a nice way to tell the story from the protagonists perspective without boring the player with “data logs” to read each time something new is discovered or when the game wants the player to know something.
And the voiceover is great, I love it.
The only thing I allow myself to complain about is that sometimes the cutscenes play on mute, then the sound come back as soon the cutscene is finished.
I solved this problem by reloading the last checkpoint, save the game before starting the mission that triggers the cutscene, reset the game and loading the previously saved game.
And nothing like a little post-launch patch can solve anyway, this little nuisance won’t EVER keep you away from the fun you will have playing CHORVS.
This game deserves more attention.

I’ll give it a 9/10.
Please do yourself a favour and play this game.

Only played the demo and i cant even complete it >_> ... got annoyed really fast.

Controls are fine but I dont understand the difficulty spike midway into the demo.

You showing the same scenes over and over again while saying things like it's "fairly" dense. Tells me there isn't much to this game at all. You've shown all there is....several times lmao.

I never forgot this being shown by Sony early on with Next Gen reveals. Slowly have wanted it more without every really digging into it. Blindly preordered a couple months ago, and lately have been feeling really psyched about it. This video is the first I’ve actually looked into it deeper, and wow, this looks f*cking crazy good. Way more depth than I realized. Now I really can’t wait. Looks like a sleeper, but I feel like it’ll unfortunately be overlooked by the masses. Sony should be putting out way more marketing...or whoever is publishing. Missed opportunity. But I can’t wait. It’s 12:27 am Thursday...just got one day to get through. Will be getting Solar Ash once it drops today...just wish that had a physical release.

Reminds me a bit of old Colony Wars: Red Sun back on the PSX. Not a lot of those cool single player campaign space shooters these days.

Stop ripping off the original before you buy and at least warn of spoilers. Amateur hour

Bought this for 50 bucks day one. Been at it for 8 hours. Quite good! Much better than I expected.

Story is a little bit undercooked and hard to follow. No real back context, you are kinda thrown into the deep end a bit. Something about the Circle and the Resistance... Bit of a frayed yarn to weave into a coherent ball, at least at the start.

Combat is fun, picks up even more so once you have a few key upgrades. Really fun and you can still die quite easily if you don't maintain focus and an eye on your shield/hull management.

I find it is oddly addicting, despite my issues with objective/mission tracking both on the overhead map and on the FOV.

Random events, side missions to trigger through exploration, weapon/armory upgrades to buy or be rewarded with.

Controls are pretty good. They differ from old Rogue Squadron and even Ace Combat, which took a bit of adaptation before I got into the swing of things. Still, they are quite good with inversion settings able to be toggled for both X and Y axes. Left/Right stick swap is there too.

Pleasently surprised, overall!

Google stadia?! Holy shit is that thing still alive? Do IT, and everyone else a solid and hold a pillow over it's face during it's sleep...or give it a 4th booster 😏

Ive been playing Everspace 2 and hit the current max level cap 25 today and was like, you know what i need to try another game until they unlock lvls 26 to 30... Downloaded Chorus on Gamepass PC without seeing any trailers or anything and OMG its so much better! What a pleasant surprise!
First off the story is way more intricate and captivating and flight mechanics are
You are like a Jedi pilot on steroids.
There's actual cutscenes too, instead of storyboards on EverSpace 2.
