Build the Le Mans Porsche 917kh which was featured in the Steve McQueen film "Le Mans" 1971. The first Porsche in history to win the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1970. Step by step, build this magnificent 1/8 scale metal reproduction of the Porsche 917KH, designed as the 21st century competition car. It measures 53,6 x 25,4 x 11,5 cm and will weigh more then 6kg. I just completed Box 11 today finding it interesting we were all nervous about how the Transmission seal, that is installed in Box 2 wobbled around on the gear box. And in Box 11, where we attach the wheel housing in Step 6, it secures that assembly very tight. It doesn't move or wobble at all. In fact, I had a little difficult time attaching it. Compare this to the Agora build, where its tight from the get-go. Is the Porsche manufactured by two different companies? I'm curious to see what else is different between the two.

Great Job! You made what seemed to be a difficult Pack quite simple. Though the video was edited down to about 20 minutes, didn't send any shivers down my spine, AND your Accident Board didn't go up! I'm still waiting for Boxes 7-9 that should have arrived last month. Fedx lost them, so IXO had to step in. At least I'm getting deliveries!

What a fantastic kit and model of a 917. I must get one soon !!
I take it that most of the screws are metric with helix threads ?
A trick I found for avoiding cross threading any helix thread, if it's any help, Is when inserting a screw into the other treaded part, Apply slight pressure to the head of the screw or Spark Plug eg, to keep it snug against the nut or fitting, Then while still applying slight pressure, turn the screw or item Backwards, Anti-clockwise in most cases and you will feel the screw/fitting, drop into the beginning of the helix. Now when you turn the screw to fit it, Clockwise, it should turn nicely without risk of cross threading.
I wonder if I could add Radio Control to this 917 kit ??? 🙂

Hey wayne. you misseed a step in the end of the last pack I think. The fuel line (the cable with the Y on the end) is secured to the side of the frame with the fork of the Y faceing the rear. 1 less thing to be flopping around for you.

The silver rods are likely suspension control rods and are meant to move. The screw should be tight, but NOT too tight !

I’m in between ordering this one and the KITT one. Is the 917 the same as the Agora one?

You need to obtain a pair of thin work gloves. Kevlar if possible.
