Have you guys tried beef hayashi rice before? For those of you wondering what it tastes like, it's a love child between beef bolognese and demi-glace sauce. It's super easy to make, so give it a try doobies -3- <3

when I heard "I have three names" I immediately went with "most people do, first, middle and last" then realized I probably need to sleep

I find it's super weird that people force people to give their child a nickname just because they refuse to learn the correct pronunciation of a name.

I'm a bit sad about this, in Mexico we had Korean classmates in elementary school and we called them their korean names, and they taught us how to say them correctly, I adored my classmate, and hope she is alright nowadays.

I remember in my college Native American literature class, these two Chinese exchange students introduced themselves with their English names, prob cause they were used to doing that, but the professor said that they could use their actual Chinese names, and then made an effort to pronounce it right, and they were so shocked by the gesture

As a teacher I always try to pronounce my students names correctly especially my foreign students. Hearing how my students had to get American names did not sit well with me. I told them their names were beautiful and their culture was beautiful. So my asian students and my south Asian students love bringing me a taste of their culture 🙂

We had a principal who learnt how to pronounce the names of all school graduates. He was also able to pronounce the names of the graduates with migration backgrounds, rare names etc.. The length or complexity of the name didn't matter, because he decided to practice it.
It's a choice and I feel sorry they didn't give more effort.

I decided to use my Korean name when I got to college, in the US. And although people struggle with it sometimes, I’m incredibly glad I made that choice. My name is important to our history and people who are worth it, will make the effort to pronounce it correctly and respectfully

I’m currently in a language program and one of the teacher (he teaches Italian + History of languages/culture) asked us all our full birth names and from which language and part of the world it was from so he was sure that he said the names properly. He was careful to get things like tones and the emphasis on syllables right and wrote it in the IPA on a sheet, for real, it was truly heartwarming !
