How to build a RELIABLE 1,400 Horsepower LS Engine!

Today in the MotoIQ Garage we're building a 1,400 horsepower LS based engine that will be powering Dai Yoshihara's Formula Drift BRZ but could be used for any racing format just the same. Not only does this engine make huge horsepower but it will do it reliably all season long without having to open it up for any serious maintenance!

I think Mike Kojima and Richard Holdener have taught me more for free on youtube then $50, 000 worth of college courses.

This was an amazing video. It is not about whether it is affordable or not, it is the free knowledge he is giving away. I have learned more about LS motors in 2 videos than in my whole life lol. I also want to know who the 43 people were that gave this video a thumbs down. Weirdos.
Mike I used to work at Ground Control and I remember shipping you suspension stuff long ago for your Sentra's. Small world. I now have a 67 Camaro and I will be calling. Thanks for the knowledge

Drifting was an interesting motorsport but now you give me a greater appreciation for drifting as an engineering proving ground for bulletproof engines. Thanks Mike!

Love your work Mike, you have a deep understanding of engineering principals and I learn every time I watch a video of yours.

WHAT AN UNBELIEVABLY GOOD PRESENTATION. Wish I had found it earlier. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain and upload. Geese I enjoyed this one.

We use the Bill Mitchell 9.800 deck block and push it to 1400hp for drifting builds as well we can run the exact same engine to 2200hp in drag or land speed racing which just shows what abuse a drift engine goes through

We also prefer a higher crown on diamond pistons

As an LS fanboy I have to say this incredible. I am going to be building a 373ci 5.3 to turbocharge in a Silverado and I am going to try and use some of these tricks on my build. I didn't know alot of this was possible for my NA 416ci LS3 and my LS2 is just a low stress build. But the 373 will be boosted and built for more power and more abuse in mind.

This is one of the best engine videos I have ever seen. THis channel is amazing for breaking down highly scientific data into means the average person can easily understand. Bravo!

I have near zero interest in drifting but this dude is brilliant and this is one of my new favourite channels! 👍

Those internals are really something else. I am understanding more why going with a popular, highly developed engine platform makes so much sense for a motorsports application, 1000's of hours of iterative development and fine tuning into every component.

I see what your talking about with the reluctor wheel it looked a little fatigued. All super good info and really easy to relate to awesome job.

mike is the automotive /engineering vesrion of stephen hawking the man knows everything about every micro detail about racing and he seems like the kindest most humble person as well if anyone deserves a phd in auto racing engineering its him great video i dont think people realize how informative this video is
