M50 questions asked several places. Answers - 1) HDMI Out is only clean with AF OFF. 2) USB Out *IS* clean with Canon EOS Utility Beta (free) or Sparkocam app ($60). Both these drivers also send keep-alive to cure the 30 minute limit problem. HOWEVER, USB out does NOT send full HD. It sends 1024x576. Huge loss of quality.

One more camera recommendation >> The Panasonic Lumix G85. The model is a few years old, so you can pick one up for anywhere between $350 used to $600 new. You can think of it as a GH5 Lite. It's a video / streaming BEAST! It shoots great 4k, has killer 5 axis IBIS (in body image stabilization), a fully articulated screen, unlimited runtime, etc., and it will easily hold it's own against much cameras that cost a whole lot more.

Omg this video changed my life! Not exaggerating, due to the Coronavirus I had to step it up and now I’m doing all of this research for my churches live stream. Thank you for this!

The canon m50 mk2 is what I'm using. The pack in lense it comes with works great for livestreaming and I got a dummy battery off of Amazon for like 22 bucks so I can stream for unlimited time. It works great with the clean hdmi out.

I have an M50 and it has autofocus, even has face detection and works great. I struggled in the beginning using this cam but setting it "cam" mode solved the majority of issues!!

we use Canon 80d with fixed 50 with face detection on . It provides amazing stream with bokeh, so no need for flawless arranged background .

I use a Nikon D7000 for live streaming to Zoom. Software installed on my laptop is SparkoCAM. Mainly for framing, perspective, it's fuly adjustable to what I need. First setup I tried (already had the camera before Covid, so open to better suggestions!

I have to say. I stream on Canon SL2/200D and have my AF turned on all the times and it works perfectly

I use a Canon SL3 which provides unlimited runtime, clean hdmi, and a mini hdmi port. Basically the DSLR version of the M50 which is mirrorless. I absolutely loooove this camera 🤙

Hey Sean I have been using Socialive, my biggest challenge has been lag in my Picture and Audio. My guest is always very smooth and uninterupted. I am Streaming to Linkedin, You Tube and Facebook on every broadcast. Great Video- Thank you as always!!

I started almost 6 month ago to get into the topic by evaluating software and hardware option to get started. I ended up by using Streamlabs OBS with a Multicam setup by using 2 smartphones (1 Nokia android and 1 iPhone X) a GoPro and the build in Webcam of a SurfaceBook. I know it sounds complicated but it was not that hard to set up and just make the first experiences.
Currently I‘m thinking about to get a dedicated camera for live-streaming and recording. It’s really hard to find the right one

Watching this Because my Canon m50 overheats when i'm streaming and turns off! So i DO NOT recommend the M50 for streaming!

A big reason for the shortage isn’t just people stuck at home webcamming . It is all the schools closing and having the kids do their work from home. I have three kids and they are required to use Zoom (which is a reason their stock is rising), to attend virtual classes.

yes, I just bought a new microphone and I'm trying it. I hope you will listen more clearly and without noise.

Some higher spec compact cameras are a good alternative.
I am using Sony RX100Mk Va. Compares well with a typical entry level mirrorsless in image quality (not as big sensor, but lens is much faster than typical kit lens). It runs indefinitely on USB power, no dummy battery required. Very good auto focus, a ton of picture customization options, full manual control, clean HDMI out, useful zoom lens.
While the internal recorder is limited to 5 minutes at 4k, it can output 4k video over HDMI indefinitely.
Only drawback: no mic input. But I need an external mixer and audio interface anyway, so who cares.

One problem you may encounter with using AC is a buzz over the audio.

If the camera can be powered from a USB port, plug it into your computer to test and see if that eliminates the buzz. Otherwise, you may not want to use the permanent power option.
