There are so many great cameras out there, but not all of them are made for streaming. This video shares 5 features I think you should make sure you look for in a camera for live streaming:

1. Clean HDMI Out
2. Interchangeable Lens
3. Great Autofocus
4. Good Battery Life or AC Power
5. Disable Auto power off

•Special thanks to Raphael Ludwig for the transparent camera menu idea! His channel is spectacular, so be sure to check it out:

•CAMERA RECOMMENDATIONS:
*As of 2022, my top recommendation for an entry level streaming camera is the Sony ZV-E10:

But it can be tough to find in stock, so here are alternatives mentioned in the video:

----"Low End" Options----
•Canon EOS RP
•Sony a6400

----"Mid Level" Options----
•Sony A7III
•Fuji X-T4
•Canon 90D
•Panasonic GH5 (bad autofocus)

---"High End" Options----
•Canon R6
•Sony a7SIII
•Canon R5

You can take it even further by pairing it with the Sigma 16mm prime lens and get some truly incredible results. The camera is 4K capable, has great autofocus, and clean HDMI out. It can even be used directly as a USB webcam.

This was the most "to the point" and honest video I've seen without any filler. Thank you!

Great video, Tom. I'm really not interested in livestreaming myself but I do enjoy learning about it. Great tips as always.

Delivers on the video....not so much with the dad jokes, which quite frankly makes them the perfect dad jokes. Love it! :)

Absolutely brilliant as always Tom! I know this may not be your target audience, but I wish someone could do a lens tutorial that began with 'First the earth cooled..' - lens stuff always seems to assume a high level of prior understanding - which is great if you have it - but a bummer if your still don't (yet) understand the basics. OMG the transparent overlay is amazing - and so effective!!! How on earth did you do that?!?!

NICE Graphics! Always solid info Tom! And your b-roll arrangements are on point! I would say power is my biggest concern with doing livestreams, great to know that in standby time is pretty good with the R.

I am doing a complete overhaul for my livestreams… everything! I will be reaching out to you soon lol however, watching all of your relevant videos (most for a 2nd time) out of respect!

Just going to say love the transparent overlay of the settings! Can’t wait to check out Raphael’s channel! Great information as always! If you have anyone listening who uses the Sony a6400 I noticed it shut down for me because of the heat. In settings you can set the threshold for shutting down due to overheating. (So far after I changed this setting it has been a great option too! 🤞🏽)

Great as usual Tom! I'm picking up my EOS R on Saturday. It's an open box with about 1, 000 shutters. Looking forward to using it.

I had no idea who this dude was that popped up on my subscription timeline, then find out this is the Enthusiasm Project channel just with a name change. This will take some getting use to...

Nice! Great list of features, combined with tips, for live stream setup. Digging that camera menu overlay look! Genius - record black with lens cap on... One more thing - bonus points to you for the way you included the manufacturers names in the beginning of the video.

Nice work. You do a great job! Exactly the same list (with the exception of interchangeable lenses) that I have used over the years. I’m not sure, but I believe that straight up video cameras are most likely to have all of these features.

Dedicated video cameras like the Canon XA, XF, Vixia series will likely have all these features - and very likely not have over heating issues. Many won’t have interchangeable lenses, though.

I’m of the opinion right now that the DSLR approach to video is really the multi tool approach. I suspect that video cameras would offer a more stable platform for most people. Thoughts? I’ve done the video for my church for decades, and that’s my current approach.
