My dad would have loved these before he retired. they would have been perfect for our road service boxes we had in the trucks.

I only use magnetic sockets in certain situations. You have to be careful because the magnet can fall out over time. I had a magnetic spark plug socket that the magnet broke into pieces, luckily none of the pieces fell inside the combustion chamber.

The 7mm magnetic socket is good for on the screws holding in GM instrument clusters. The 10mm works good for timing chain guide bolts.I have two Matco ADV sets in metric deep and shallow.Another way to keep the fastner in the socket if you don't have the magnetic sockets is put a small dab of grease in the socket.

A wad of axle grease will hold the head in the socket also.

Thank you! I was trying to choose between a magnetic and non-magnetic set (much cheaper but fewer sockets), and you answered all the questions I had.

1 min 10 into it and you're already talking about every trick my old mans ever taught me growing up. Always good content, and always love seeing my dads face when he can see first hand how far tools have come. I picked up magnetic 1/4 with locking ext long ago and use them all the time!! i work on a lot of small engines. I should probably do an update huh!! keep rocking!!

Awesome video. Locking extension advise = a Youtuber that actually uses the tool he discusses.

Pair those with some locking extensions and you’re all set.

I use the snap on one's daily 7mm 8mm and 10mm deep my only complaint is the spring on the 10mm keeps coming out but snap on replaces it if I lose the parts to put it back together. But I keep a sunex set shallow around for the weaker magnets.

Not for what cornwell wants for them. They are just rebranded Grey pneumatic sockets. I bought the grey pneumatic sets instead

As with every magnetic socket holder I've seen my question is, how hard is it to get ground metal shavings out of that socket because it will happen?
