TEAR STAINS
We are getting many questions on how we keep Xantis' eye area so clean and white.
The truth is that Xanti does not get tear stains naturally since the day we got him.
We have however done everything in our powers to keep it that way and made also a lot of research on it. Here is what can cause tear stains and how to fight it:
1) Additives and colorants in food - Switching to homemade or handcrafted food (you can try B.A.R.F.)
2) Too many minerals in the water - Switching to filtered water
3) Long hair around the eyes - Keep the hair always short, so that it does not poke into the eyes
4) Infections or inflamation - It is always good to consult your veterinarian to see if your dog does not have any conjunctivitis trouble
5) Genetics - Unfortunately sometimes the dogs are prone to tear stains through their genetics, check if your dogs parent had the same issue

In order to whiten Xantis coat we use the Chris Christensen White on White shampoo, it does not contain any bleaching agents and so can be used even around the eyes. It helps removing truly any staining, specially around the mouth.

My Maltese is 16 and he’s still the same ball of happy loving energy he was as a puppy. Love him so much he’s always by my side keeping me happy. I’ve had him since I was 10, I’m 26 now!

I lucked up with my 1st little Maltese, Toto. He appeared @ the local shelter just waiting for me to get him. Fell in love with each other. Had him for 10 years when he got cancer and to put him down was worse than a stake in my heart. I went through depression, anxiety and loneliness like there was not tomorrow. 2 years later I drove 4 hrs. to get another little rescue Maltese. His name was Bug. Loving and so appreciative to have a new loving home. Each of my babies were the sweetest most lovable little companions I could ever hope for. Bug passed in his sleep with congestive heart just 3 months ago. I miss him so much and, in my heart, I want the joy of another little Maltese. But my body is weak, and I know it would not be fair to the baby being I could not give it proper care. I fall in love with every Maltese I see, but look is all I can do. Written in loving memory of "Toto", & "Bug".

I have owned four Maltese. Absolutely wonderful dogs that are extremely affectionate and loving. As a responsible owner of a Maltese, you must brush them daily as well as brush their teeth with toothbrushes and toothpaste made especially made for dogs. NEVER use people teeth care products for their little mouths. They fall in love with their owners and love love people. They are kind, loving and their place is on your lap. Please do not get a Maltese unless you dedicate yourself to attending to them properly and having yearly checkups. They crave your attention and they deserve your attention when it comes to caring for them.

We just adopted a Maltese from a shelter. He's almost 3. Love of our life. Lots of energy and loveable. Can't imagine our life without him. He does some new every day.

My Maltese, Barley, is my "white shadow". He stays next to me morning and night. He is my 2nd Maltese. I've had a lot of different dog breeds in my life. Maltese are my favorite because they are happy and intelligent little cuddly, well behaved cuties.

We've had our little Maltese, Oscar, for just over a year now. He's about 12 lbs and full of energy. Just the cutest thing I ever did see. I absolutely hate leaving him in the morning when I go to work, but he knows when I'm just about to walk out the door, and he goes to his bed in the kitchen and goes back to sleep. He hears my Truck pull in the drive and runs down stairs to meet me at the door when I get home, jumping up and down, tail wagging a mile a minute, just letting me know I'm loved, I was missed, and he's so happy I'm home. Coming home to him is the favorite part of my day. No matter how bad my day might have been, he just has a way of melting all the stress away. If I had it my way, I'd spend all day, every day with him, and in just about 4 years, I'll be able to do just that, when I retire. Oscar will be 5 years old then, and we'll have a lot of time to spend together, me and my little buddy. Now, I just need to get the little guy house broken. I must say, I've never had a dog that was so difficult to house train. It's never taken me longer than 2 weeks in the past, and we've had a lot of dogs. This guy; however, is a whole different story. They are extraordinarily lovable, but can be very strong willed. It's easy to get into the habit of giving in, and letting them have their way. They don't like the word "No", and can be quite tenacious in insisting what they want; and with them being so darn cute, it's hard not to give into them. But, they don't hold a grudge when you hold out and not give in, they are always ready to dump a truck load of love on you. We are so glad Oscar has become a part of our family, and I couldn't imagine my day without him now. He's my little buddy and close friend.

I'm a 6 foot 7 inch tall 260 pound bald, tattooed, bearded, construction worker that sings in a death metal band and my wife and I would love to have one of these little dudes running around our home, but they are so loveable and sweet no body gives them up to a shelter and we won't go to a breeder, so thanks for the video. Until our luck changes we'll have to live vicariously through you folks.🤘

One of my two little white dogs is a pure breed Maltese, checked her DNA...she is a rescue and blind in one eye, only a few teeth left, a surrendered exbreeder, 8 years old and she'd never lived outside a crate, i taught her to walk, she cannot drink water so she gets two teaspoons of water in every meal which is 4 meals a day, special food and has survived two bouts of beast cancer, had a double mastectomy and pees with little heads up but we love her to bits and she snores like a st Bernard...lol.

I have had 2 malties, not together. Becky and Ben. Full of mischiefs, loved water, sludge, rounding up large dogs, and escaping. Minds of their own, understood everything we said, and ignored every word. Wonderful loving dogs. I have had 8 dogs over many years, all rescues except Becky. Finding it hard now as getting on in years to have no dogs but will never forget my malties. Xx love following you

My Jazz lived 17 years. He was my best friend, my joy, my unconditional ♥. So smart, I miss him to this day. I have his ashes, and when it's my time, he goes with me. The love a Maltese gives is a love to cherish. Someday we will run and play across that Rainbow 🌈 Bridge.
