I was often torn when attempting to categorize SOME specific games into specific genres, and yeah Zelda is exhibit A for so many of us! I've gone back and forth on calling it an RPG or an Action/Adventure and I think I've settled more on Adventure, and lean towards saving the "RPG" for more numbers-based grinding type games. Though many would argue that blurs into JRPGs... Its a case-by-case thing, and often times goes off how I feel on a particular day haha. Great video idea and thanks for your thoughts on this eternal gaming question!

You do realize that games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry fall under your aforementioned action genre? Oops. Hack'n slay is not a genre on its own but more like a gameplay mechanic that can be applied to different genres like action games (Bayonetta), beat em ups (Golden Axe)and of course RPGs (Dark Souls). Even established genres like shooters (third person and first person) can often be applied as a sub genre to other main genres like RPGs. Mass Effect is a RPG with third person shooter galore. Borderlands is a RPG with first person shooter galore.
