I mean, to be fair, it was always known that JJ Abrams was planning on starting the Portal Movie after he got done with Star Trek and Star Wars. It's just that he was working on that longer than he anticipated. He finished episode 9, probably took a few months of vacation, then Covid hit, and now the world is opening back up and his plate is clean.

I'm actually betting on it happening this time.

The problem is Valve wouldn't make a HL or Portal movie if it's anything less than perfect. Valve is a perfectionist company. They would spend 20 years on the perfect Half Life script for a movie series or show if they could to assure its something everyone, including long time fans, would really enjoy
