Life After Mastoidectomy

Mastoidectomy is a surgery to remove mastoid air cells in the hollow, air-filled spaces in the skull behind the ear within the mastoid bone. This procedure can also be used to remove an abnormal growth of the ear known as cholesteatoma. Its recovery time is 3-4 weeks.

After the treatment, make sure to cover your outer ear opening to keep water out for 1-2 weeks. Sneeze with your mouth open, and do not blow your nose.

Keep your head elevated with several pillows while sleeping. Avoid bending, heavy lifting, or driving for a few weeks.

I had tympanoplasty surgery 13 days ago. On the second day after the surgery my eyes swollen badly but 2 days later it was healed on its own . I had symptoms like dizziness, pain in moving the head, mild pain while chewing. These symptoms lasts for maximum 4 days . And yesterday I got my stitches cut and now I'm feeling totally fine just some sound is coming out from ear but the doctor said it's the medicine that they used to support the operated area and it will stop once they take out the medicine after 1 month of operation.

i had done mastoid exploration surgery 4 days ago..at the moment conditions and symptoms i am having are
1: dizziness and vertigo while moving head or standing
2: alien like noise in the ear
3:no pain or swelling at the moment

I've been dealing with this for almost 2 yrs. I've been on numerous antibiotics & steroids during this period. I've had surgery that was done through my ear, then another approximately 6 months later to remove a polyp. I've had continuous drawing since this began. Is there anything else that can be done other than a mastoid surgery where they drill behind your ear & if this is the only alternative will it stop the drainage
