Being a Force Recon Marine was he best experience of my life. I spent over a year with 5th Force at Del Mar in Pendleton all of 1967 and went to jump school, dive school, amphibious recon school with lots of swimming, rubber boat training, jumping (fixed wing, helicopter, night jumps, water jumps) sub training, rappelling. All of this prepared me for my tour in Vietnam in 68-69 with 1st Recon Bn. Absolutely the most exciting time of my life and I'm now 74.

That water jump was rad. Was stationed at Hansen in 79 a life time ago with 2/5. Man I’d like to turn back the clock! Keep up the good training. Semper Fi.

My late husband was a marine. He was in recon . I believe being a marine is and the most dangerous call. They are usually the 1st called in. And it can be and is very deadly (private Ryan). But in truth we and especially me respect and appreciate all the military for what they have sacrificed to make America safe. God bless each and everyone of you every single day. ❤️

I had the pleasure to work with Marine Force Recon in the early 80's I was an army grunt. Never been around Seals but worked alot with Special Forces they were a joy to work with and professionals that knew their shit. But the Recon really left an impression on me, like special forces it's not about the Rambo aspect these guys are seriously intelligent individuals. I mean sure you can do the physical training but the amount of training and schooling that you have to do and comprehend and pass is unbelievable. I remember talking to them in the field and a lot of their equipment they bought themselves at mountaineering shops or Cabelas because that gear was better than military issue, we worked together on a big 45 day field exercise in Germany the leader said he had to call HQ in the states to verify something one of the other recons unfolded this little metal dish thing and he actually called and talked to his HQ in the US this was like 82 so I was dumbfounded never seen anything like that, anyway those Recon guys were really good.
