Anthony would like to apologize to Sony for having way too much fun messing around with a jailbroken PS4 Pro. Cheats? You bet. Homebrewed Software? Totally. Linux? You better believe it. HALO AND MARIOKART?… HECK. YES. Why buy a PS5 when you can do this?

Guys, I think there was an error when explaining the 1Gb/2/3/4/5gb options on Linux.

My understanding is that it is the actual split between RAM and VRAM assignation.

So with 1Gb 7 went to RAM and 1gb to VRAM. I normally use the 3Gb one which is a nice balance.

Really appreciate the shoutout! This was a great showcase of what's possible with a Jailbroken PS4.

Ok, so Anthony is using an Xbox controller to play a Nintendo game being emulated on Linux, running on a PS4. Never seen someone represent so many communities in only one gameplay, what a champ!

If PS4 was priced like a "last gen console" (ie, we weren't having a chip shortage), this would absolutely be a great media center host.

The Bloodborne 60fps patch is indeed an absolutely insane project that Lance McDonald put a TON of work into. It doesn't JUST enable 60fps either, it also fixes the frame timing which is notoriously awful in the original version of the game. Lance essentially rewrote large portions of the game in order to make it all work. He worked on the patch for a LONG time and kept releasing updates before finally fully releasing it, after extensive testing on all versions of the game. He's also just extremely experienced with this sort of stuff too, he's also the guy who found the absurdly obscure "final secret" in Nier Automata years after it released when he found some unusual unused code while digging around in the game code.

I'm still salty about Sony removing the option to install Linux on the PS3. That was such a cool feature when it first launched! Glad to see geohotz legacy living on to this day though :)

Its ironic that we can emulate ps1 and ps2 games with this jailbreak and Sony still hasn't given the option to officially play games through backwards compatability on ps4 or ps5

Seeing Anthony be at the point where someone else is explaining stuff to him mid video Linus style is beautiful. So happy to see how far you've made it at LTT so fast!

The number says how much VRAM linux will have.
it's there because PS4 has a total of 8GB that each game divides that 8GB to VRAM and RAM.
and PS4's OS doesn't touch 8GB of RAM it uses 256MB of separate Memory in PS4 and 1.25GB of seperate Memory in PS4 Pro.
Best options for gaming is 2GB or 3GB, 1GB if not gaming and 4GB or 5GB for expensive Graphical Work (Rendering).

At the very least, my PS4 won’t just collect dust in my media room because of the PS5 being around. That said, I always appreciate videos from Anthony (especially his Linux videos).

So glad that LTT is making long form videos consistantly for a while now ie. more than 10 mins and not overly edited
keep this up

Glad to see more exposure to the console hacking scene, I recently got a modded PS4 to play around with mods and prerelease software, like the patched version of the Elden Ring Network Test, which was time-sensitive and was only available for a brief time to play, on a modded PS4 you can play it whenever and for as long as you'd like.
There are also some full on leaked development builds with debug menus and stuff that have been patched to run on a modded retail unit, which are always fun to mess around with.

I absolutely love Anthony in this role. Keep up the killer work dude! Love hearing someone explain to you how the testing went.

Yeah, Lance put a lot of work into that patch, and like demonstrated, he has dove deep into the dev debug options and a lot of cut content.
