My father was a very hard working farmer. Worked till the sun goes down and beyond. Sometimes it would be 9pm when I hear my most favorite song....coming in from the cold....That would be him...coming in from the cold, hard pressed life. This song has been my strength over forty years now and even more so over the past 26 years of his passing. Bob has penned and recorded magic in almost every song he produced....even if they were given him, they were penned with the great man in mind. All I can say now is...timeless

A beautiful song from a beautiful album. What Bob did in his far too short 36 years on this planet was and is incredible. Musically, socially, and politically.

[Chorus]
In this life, in this life, in this life
In this, oh sweet life
We're (we're coming in from the cold)
We're coming in (coming in), coming in (coming in)
Coming in (coming in), coming in (coming in)
Coming in from the cold!

[Verse 1]
It's you, it's you, it's you I'm talking to
Well, you (it's you), you (it's you), you I'm talking to now
Why do you look so sad, and forsaken?
When one door is closed, don't you know, other is open?

Would you let the system make you kill your brotherman?
No, no, no, no, no, no! No, Dread, no! Woo!
Would you make the system make you kill your brotherman?
(No, Dread, no!)
Would you make the system get on top of your head again?
(No, Dread, no!)
Well, the biggest man you ever did see was - was just a baby

[Chorus] [x2]
In this life (in this life)
In this (in this life, oh sweet life):
Coming in from the cold!
We're coming in (coming in), coming in-a (coming in)
Coming in (coming in), ooh! (coming in)
Coming in from the cold!

[Verse 2]
It's you, you, you I'm talking
Well, yes, you,  bilyabong you! (it's you)
Ew! - you I'm talking to now
We-e-ell, why do you look so, look so, look so sad
Look so sad and forsaken?
Don't you know: When one door is closed - when one door is closed
Many more is open?

We-e-e-ell, would you let the system get on top of your head again?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Dread, no!
Would you let the system make you kill your brotherman?
No, Dread, no!
We-e-e-ell, would you make the system get on top of your head again?
(No, Dread, no!) No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
Well, the biggest - biggest man you ever - ever
Did-a see was-a was-a once a baby

[Chorus]

[Outro]
We're coming in-a, coming in-a, coming in-a, coming in-a!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yea-ea-ea-eah!
Coming in from the cold
Coming in (coming in), coming in (coming in)
(coming in) (coming in)
(coming in) from the - from the cold!

"When one door is closed, another is open"... Coming in from the cold... (I just took meaning from this song, when you're going through rough times in this life, it isn't permanent and good times come and that's when you're coming in from the cold.)

It's been a matter of pure amazement for me, for years now, the depth and fractal truth of this first sentence, "In this life we're coming in from the cold". To resort to the internet meme, this is true on some many levels. But, seriously, Bob somehow managed to state something that stands true for everything that we regard as life and its struggle to be. Even at a cosmic level, everything indeed flows to be cold, particles to distance from each other, there's the universal tendency for maximum entropy, after all. Life seems to always fight for the opposite: to come in from the cold. To order. To get together. To heat. And then there's the depth of this idea on a social and cultural level. This is also what everyone is doing all the time: seeking shelter. Don't know... too much being said and called attention for in a single sentence.

I really wonder why we live and die after producing such everlasting masterpieces. The death of artist like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson etc...hurts us to the core. Viva Bob Marley & The Wailers

Marley, Gaye,
Lennon when he went solo.
These Men were not perfect Men.
But at some point in their lives, they were chosen, touched, inspired, by a universal conscious of wisdom and eternal love,
to create music that feeds the human soul.
"Loorrd! have this grilled cheese!"✌🏼
