The apron is a great idea. You always need an extra pocket and with no ties, it nevers loosens

I laughed out loud when you mentioned the wind blowing you away with the umbrella!🤣I got a “mental” picture of that….. I picked up one of those kneelers/seat, at a garage sale, a few years back. My knees thank me!

I've always wanted a big umbrella for gardening. Why didn't I think of getting a beach umbrella? This stabling idea is brilliant! Thank you Bill and Susan : )

Bill is so handy. Great idea. Yes a kneeler bench is a life saver/hip saver. I have always like your mailbox idea. Have a great 4th of July celebration.

Your selection of the most important tools in your garden is very helpful. The cobra tool and mailbox were among the ones I’d like to start using in my garden. You always have something new for me to learn! You are a treasure house of information and helpful knowledge, thank you, Susan!

What a great idea Bill had for using extra sprinkler parts to create a holder for the umbrella, I'm definitely going to use that application to hold a golf umbrella I purchased for $6 on clearance late last fall. ⛱Susan, do all of those gardening tools fit into the mailbox, even the long-handled pruners? I just purchased a rural mailbox for tool storage in my garden thanks to seeing yours about a year ago. Thank you for all the great ideas over the years. Blessings to you and Bill, and I hope you're having a wonderful week. ~Margie🤗💐

I have 2 garden mailboxes. One holds tools, the other holds string, ties, gloves, misc.

Oh how Cool is that umbrella!! I got my kneeler at local hardware. Way to go Bill!
I keep forgetting to get mine out😂. Visions of Mary Poppins ran through my head😂😂
I planted green beans in a long high bed this year and think the kneeler will be the perfect match. In the heat bent over picking beans can make some get light headed.
Yes, colored handles helped me find my Fiskar garden shears the other day.
Great choices.
Hope you warmed up. We are still in severe drought that they just admitted today. Water, water, water and Smoke—it’s awful.
I need to put tool boxes around the garden and see how handy that is.
It’s been a battle this year. 😢Z5a, WI

Ooh, I have to try that beach umbrella trick. I simply wilt in the direct sun and this should help extend my gardening tolerance this time of year.

I use an old printer’s apron with 2 big pockets. I use them the exact same way as you. (great minds think alike 😉) The apron also has a narrow pocket which is perfect for dibbers, pencils, or scissors.

I always thought the kneeler bench would be more work than it was worth, but you've changed my mind. And the beach umbrella is brilliant. My must have tool is a Victorinox oyster knife. The slim, stainless steel blade is curved and super thin so it moves into the soil effortlessly. The handle is round and very comfortable. I know it's not intended to be a weeder but it works for me. I use a Hori Hori knife for weeds that have gotten out of hand, but it's big and the handle is very uncomfortable.

Thank you for these great tips! I also loved the sun umbrella on the kneeler. And I did not know about the cobra tool (or a garden mailbox!) so all in all, a, informative video!

Wow what a great idea Bill.
I'm 73 and I could not gardening without a kneeled. Everyone have a safe and great 4th. My favorite tool is the cobra weeder.

Susan, you just convinced me to buy that garden kneeler and seat. I’ve been looking at it in the Gardener’s Supply catalog, but I haven’t made up my mind. But you made a convincing presentation, so now I’ll get myself one. Thank you !

That Bill is ingenious to have found a way to attach a beach onto your garden seat/kneeler! Thank you for sharing. You are right that all those tools are handy. I have all of them except for the mailbox. Hmm. I have one somewhere. It was in my classroom. Must be in one of the boxes I brought home when I retired. One day it’ll be added to the garden. 😊

I think I have all the tools you mentioned except a beach umbrella. Love that idea. My best purchase recently has been a gorilla cart(wagon) to replace the wheelbarrow. So much easier to use and maneuver over uneven ground as I age and doesn't tip over like the wheelbarrow if your load is uneven. Can use it for transporting heavy bags of dirt to different areas of the garden or mixing the dirt with other components. I use it for all my gardening chores and the dump feature allows me to empty a load of weeds or clippings directly into the compost heap with little effort. The wheelbarrow is now utilized as a planter and should be in glorious bloom shortly filled with an array of snapdragons and other annuals.
