:q! = force quit (will ignore changes & exit)

The worst was learning git and forgetting to type a commit message with -m, which would force me into Vim without even knowing what it was and realizing I couldn’t even figure out how to edit the commit message, let alone exit, save, or whatever

😂😂😂 this is too relatable! However, I became immortal and ascended to the level of a programmer! Pulling the forbidden sword out of the ground I was able to summon my last strength to press esc and then :q! which teleported me out of the dungeon of Vim.

I use vim as an editor on a daily basis, and I love it. It's extremely customizable as far as I know.
And btw, to exit, type
:q!
and press enter.

For people actually wondering, you press escape and you write :q (if you want to save what you wrote, you write :wq)

Sometimes you have to write an exclamation mark at the end to force quit :)
