"Real programmers" use Vim, they say

Web User fails to complete his Python homework. He asks for help in Discord. A cat with nickname "bestprogrammerindaworld" helps him — he says he needs to see the code. Web User sends the screenshot of code. Bestprogrammerindaworld discovers that Web User uses Mousepad. The cat says that Vim is much better than Mousepad (the standard XFCE text editor). Web User decides to try Vim but fails to exit it.

lol, I remember the first time I opened vim, it was the exact same experience! Now I use Vim on a daily basis, my Java teacher said it was only for the criminally insane. So I asked him for his home address!

I downloaded vim once and tried the built in vimtutor. It was a really weird experience but it was also weirdly addicting. Now whenever I use vim or any text editor that supports vim keybindings I become obsessed with seeing how much I can minimize the amount of keystrokes I use to edit code.

I only use Vim casually since I memorized not even half of what Vim's capable of. But its blazing fast at least, especially if you know some basics.

The worst part is when you close the terminal because you can't figure out how to exit, only to find that it's still in memory and you have to do a full restart to release the file -_-

I know it's a meme but if you're wondering the answer is you have to press esc to get out of the insert mode and then type :wq to write and quit the program.

Used Vim once when the HPC Linux professor told us we needed to. Someone whispered to me "type 'nano' instead, trust me bro". And I never looked back. VSCode for literally anything but CLI.

the trick is to use vim where u can't use an editor, like a live cluster, and then use something basic like sublime because everything else is BLOAT
