I can't believe I watched this entire video and enjoyed the hell out of it. I technically didn't "watch" but had it playing on my phone while I was driving around town. LOL I'm laughing because this was much fun to listen to and took the tedium out of bopping around town. Thank you very much.

Might check out LINBIT's video on setting up LINSTOR on Proxmox. I'm thinking about rebuilding my cluster using it. I have ceph and glusterfs on clusters but drdb looks like it performs better.

Thanks. I am just curious why GlusterFS? I was learning it when I was working on Red Hat systems and fixed the geolocation issue. I think that Ceph is better from my own point of view.

Back in the day, youd never have done this in a single video, hell youd never have done this in a single day. Its come a bloddy long way..

Proxmox clusters, good god, those are words that used to give me nightmares, 20, 000 What a ball ache that was.

Installed Proxmox, ESX, and Hyper-V and had ESX and Hyper-V running in no time. Installed server and client VM’s for all, and containers for ESX and Hyper-V. 3 weeks later I’m still struggling to get containers to work on Proxmox and everything else is running fine. You can really tell it’s free open source because it’s shit compared to the commercial offerings. It’s a shame this is the best open source can offer, but I’d rather pay than deal with Proxmox.

Looks really cool. Just curious, what software/tool did you use for terminal panes with host IP address on top left and "broadcast" on top right (5:19)? Mind sharing? It looks really useful for cluster management work like that. Thanks.

very cool but gluster is being deprecated..

Can someone explain or point me in a direction of what a cluster is for and how it's used? I hear people talking about them in videos all the time, but they never cover why you would want to do such a thing.

What servers did you use? I can see they are short depth.. I'm looking for something like that.

I have a question regarding Proxmox Clustering. For example, in your case you have 12 + 8 CPUs, would you be able to create a VM with 18 cpus therefore distributing the load across 2 hosts?
(Not an expert in this field but would like to get into the networking world)

Hello Brother, In my case, I am trying to use 3 nodes HA with glusterfs. But I have only one disk. So in xfs formating phrases, I stopped. any idea for that?

Can You please explain to us what is a MDF room? I heard of someone talk about IDF and had to look it up but what is a MDF? Or what is the difference between them?

I’m going to talk only about my experience with proxmox and I have tried to used several times. I do not like it I think that there are better options. My setup is a 3 node i5 13th gen with ceph and 32gb ram two nics one for ceph traffic and the other for all other traffic. I think it’s very slow, there is a problem, in my opinion, when stopping the vm’s when they get stuck or you made a mistake in some way with the vm. The templates can only be cloned from one node and they are attached to that node different from VMware of course you can migrate the templates. Installing a Linux vm in the traditional way takes a long time like several hours something like 4 hours or more. The ceph speed on ssd was around 13mb/s. I made a test by moving all my 10vm from 3 to only 2 nodes to test on the third node the speeds. Maybe it’s me and I’m not used to this kind of solution because I was a VCP on 5.5 and 6 I normally prefer fedora KVM because of cockpit but that doesn’t provide any way to cluster 2/3 machines. In sum I got tired of it and installed harvester hci and now a vm is installed in 5m or a bit more, longhorn gives speeds around 80mb/s.
This is just my last experience and the previous ones. I hope this helps someone. Thank you.
