Fun fact: If you enchant a creature that has Double Strike with Colossification, Spirit Link, Light of Promise, and Lifelink; then you can deal a minimum of 20 first strike damage, gain 40 life, put 40 +1/+1 counters on the creature, deal a minimum of 60 normal damage, gain 120 life, and put 120 +1/+1 counters on the creature. Imagine if you managed to also give it Trample

What I think is really cool is what happens when you give an Extremely Slow Zombie double strike. It's from the Unstable sets so it's unfortunately not legal in most formats, but it has last strike so it deals damage after everything else, so giving it double strike basically gives it triple strike

This has been one of my biggest struggles playing MTG, i have an Edgar Markov deck, and in it i run Drana, Liberator of malakir, She has first strike and whenever she deals combat dmg to a player i put a +1/+! counter on all my creatures, meaning they will be bigger when they do dmg. but every time i play her at least 2 people always insist that the counters go on after combat "Because combat damage is all simultaneous" and they never believe me that first strike hits before everything else. the same thing happens when i play Mirri the cursed.

Little over a week ago I had to spend the better half of an hour looking up double strike and blocking rules to convince a guy that just because his creature, "deals damage twice" doesn't mean he hits the defending player if he killed the creature with the first strike portion of the damage.

As an Isshin player, I confirm that double strike shenanigans are always funny

The card that best describes first strike and double strike is Balan, Wandering Knight. She has first strike, but gains double strike if she has 2 or more equipment on her. In one game I had Balan and just a blood forged battle-axe and was able to hit, create the token and use her ability to equip it at instant speed so that she could swing again. The insane part is that the next turn she was swinging for +19/+19 double strike and lethal and I was able to equip the first batch to make it something truly a 2 card nightmare

Honestly, the additionnal phase from 1st strike is SO helpful for my ninjutsu deck. Thank you for teaching me that!

I wish strikes could build on each other.
Like, if I give a creature with first strike double strike, it becomes a triple strike creature.

You're 2/2 would deal damage to both grizzlies killing them and surviving but effectively blocked so no damage would go through to the player

Could you do a video on Summoning Sickness? a lot of players i have met mistakenly think once a full rotation happens the creatures losses summoning sickness permanently, this is not the case, if i use control magic on your Ghalta, it now regains summoning sickness, same thing if i blink/flicker a creature. I think part of the problem is the fan made term 'summoning sickness' is misleading and a better name would be 'control sickness'

Doesn't defender assign where the damage goes? So with the bear example defender could assign one damage to each bear and then have both hit back and kill?

Okay so if my attacking creature with DS kills the defender in the first strike combat damage, It doesn't do any damage to the player on the regular damage stage?
