These are my thoughts exactly! I don’t think he minds caring for people, he clearly has friends and maintains those relationships (Rosie, Mimzy, and maybe Zestial) It’s the fact that he almost died that freaks him out the most. But I feel like it’s not just Adam cutting through his persona that got to him but that he ended up in this situation because of things outside of his control. He clearly is not at the hotel because he wants to be. I don’t think he would actively choose to fight someone like Adam if he could avoid it. The biggest tell is him dropping an f-bomb right before he fights Adam. He curses when he feels insecure.

I like that perspective on that, from my perspective it's that he is singing from Charlie and co's perspective because they assumed he had died until he reappeared before the final song ended
