when your internet cant handle anything above 1080p Edit: (2021) This is not about monitors/tvs/mobile devices displaying it just internet connection limitations. My internet 2/3 years ago (when this comment was made) was garbage but could handle 1080p on streaming sites. Also no hardware limitations as I had a killer gaming rig.
