The CanonEOS R5 Mark II has been the subject to criticism as of late, but is it warranted? Do the test charts show the real capabilities of this camera? I do a series of real world tests with photo and video to showcase why the Canon R5 Mark II may be more of an upgrade than some think.

I was unsure about the purchase after the announcement. Now having the camera in hand I find that it is well worth the cost of entry. The pre-capture and enhancements in the AF make it worth it and there is so much more beyond that to appreciate.

This camera is amazing just like the majority of all the cameras before it. Videos and photos have been taken that look AMAZING before this camera was ever even thought about. Those who complain about what it lacks or what it can’t do are just projecting their own inability to create something great. There are tools for every job, this is just one. There will never be a one-size-fits-all camera. The brain can be a powerful thing when put to use… but I’m just sayin! Great video!!! Thanks for the effort you make with all that you do!! Cheers!

Lightroom can apply import profiles with the noise settings off or at any desired setting.

Love your videos, I also think a lot of new cameras get a lot of unwarranted to criticism. To me people focus on the negative and not all the positive the gain in these new cameras. I feel the same way about the criticism on the new nikon z6III.

Birds in flight is much better on the 5m2, that's for sure what I found out.. And I love the Eye Control in nature, it works for me.

I'm glad you gave them an even handed review. That's one reason why I come to your channel. I trust your reviews and value your perspective. Personally, I am having so much fun with the Leica M9 and the Voigtlander 75mm F1.5 Nokton. So when I hear people complain about minor differences in dynamic range i'm just ROFL! Personally, I enjoy the limited DR look. I think that's one reason why the M9 files look like slide film. We can do great work with whatever gear we have. We just have to get creative! :-)

The YouTube space has specialised in the Canon bashing. All obviously triggered and supported by competitors. Just to be clear: it is not that people like drama. Bobby has almost to apologise when he says “this camera is fantastic” on the 21st minute of the video. Canon is a very cool and reliable brand that is putting under pressure the competition with this new release, in particular Sony which has nothing comparable today. My personal expectation is that the R1 will even stand out more - especially against the 9III - although it is a very niche product and will appeal to very few (who have the need and the money). We see the technological and innovation potential for a new R7, new r8 etc. too. Canon is seriously going to own the mirrorless space in the next 3 or 4 years.

This is the best camera l have ever owned the only real issue l have is with all these customisable features we could do with 2 more custom buttons. Then there is the Canon buffer though improved it still not great. Otherwise a hard camera to criticise.

Hello, great review. I enjoy the way you present the information (pros and cons) and your honesty on how you feel about a product and willingness to admit that another brand is better in certain features. I also respect you showing the SOOC images and how they look after being edited. I find this helpful because my pictures start off looking the same way and sometimes I panic because I think something is really, really off. I may not be experienced enough to edit like you but they do improve after working them. Do you have any advice on how to expose someone that is backlit? I shoot sports and sometimes the runners are coming towards me have the sun behind them or somewhere in the rear. They athletes come out too dark and either I have to raise the levels in LR real high to reveal them which sometimes it isn’t enough or use a high iso to expose them. Other than moving from that spot 😂, any suggestions?
