In this module, you will:
⚫ learn about the structure of DNA.
DNA is a polynucleotide.
• A nucleotide of DNA contains beta-D-2-deoxyribose sugar,
a phosphate group, a nitrogenous base that can be adenine,
guanine, cytosine or thymine.
• Different nucleotides of DNA join by a phosphodiester
bond to form a polynucleotide chain or a strand of DNA.
The nitrogen bases of one DNA strand join with complementary
bases of another strand by hydrogen bonding.
• The two strands of DNA that are held together by hydrogen bonds
spiral around each other forming the double strand helix of DNA.
