Take Your Chess Skills To The Next Level With High-Quality Courses

Strong chess players can recognize patterns and spot tactical opportunities instantly, as Garry Kasparov once said. Indeed, a significant part of playing chess comes down to pattern recognition since it's impossible to memorize the virtually limitless number of opening variations.

In this video lesson, you'll discover the top 3 essential chess tactical patterns that every player should know! These are the most common tactics that frequently occur in real, practical games—unlike some of the more complex and rare tactics like the windmill or discovered checks. That’s why it’s crucial to master these fundamental patterns above all.

At the end of the video, GM Igor Smirnov unveils the secret behind how chess grandmasters quickly and easily recognize patterns and spot tactics.

He demonstrates this system by taking on a tactical puzzle challenge (puzzle rush) for a minute—so you can witness a grandmaster in action, solving tactics live!

❤Hi master 👋
12:30 puzzle
1.Nf6 +, if Knight on e8 captures then there is Qg7# so Kh8
2.Bxg7+, it is a checkmate if Knight not captures the bishop so NxBg7
In the next move white wins the black queen on c7 👍
😊 nice puzzle 🥰
🤗Thank you master 🙏

The puzzle is easy and covers the three patterns talked about. From the position we can clearly see that basically, all white pieces are targeting the black king, while black pieces are not in a great set-up to defend, so the threat is likely checkmate or at least threaten that. The first move that jumps into my mind is Qxg7, and it's almost a checkmate, it's just defended by the e8 knight.

So the correct move should be Nf6+, which is a check and it forks the king and the e8 knight. because the g7 pawn is absolutely pinned, black either has to take with the knight or moves the king. If black plays Nxf6, the knight no longer defends the g7 pawn and this time Qxg7# is a checkmate. The only other legal move after Nf6+ is Kh8 to dodge the check, this time white will play Bxg7+ and the e8 knight must take, but it will no longer defend the c7 queen and Qxc7 will simply win the queen

Hey Igor. Can you make a video about how to punish my opponent's passive play? I always don't know what to do when I faced with passive openings such as the Phillidor and King's Indian. And then all of a sudden, they attack me brutally.

Daily puzzle. The winning move is

Nf6+, the idea is

If Knight takes then Queen takes queen

If king moves then bishop takes g7 +

When Knight takes

You WIN THE QUEEN ANYWAY.

nice puzzle ❤

1Nf6+ (if Knight takes f6 Q×g7#),
Kh8
2 B×g7+, N×g7(which is forcing)
3 Q×c7( capturing black's undefended queen)

puzzle: knight f6 check, if king moves to the corner, bishop g7, if knight takes bishop, you can take his queen. And other variation is knight f6 check, if knight takes knight, it's checkmate queen g7

Excellent video Igor, advice for the next one please: how to deal with clock, 95% of the games I lose on time, in each of them I have a strong positional and often material advantage. I always attacks in this game. This is causing me a problem. I am at 1800, I feel that I can do more, but the clock is my enemy.

It seems to me that Botvinnik once mentioned this position at the end of the recording or a position with an identical motif in one of his books or articles.

Nf6+, if Nxg7, Qg7#. If Kh8, Bxg7+, Nxg7 is forced allowing Qxc7 winning the Queen.

Okay, Igor, you solved about half of those puzzles in the speed minute faster than I could even get an understanding of what the position was. @#)$(*!!

Theres only way, first give check with ur night and if night takes with night then queen to king checkmate, if night not takes, king moves take that knight with ur knight so it will take if it doesn't take u can have their queen, if it takes u can have checkmate

1:48 the exact same thing just happened to me in a daily

Nf6+. If Knight takes your knight, you just win the queen and most likely win the game after. If King moves, Bxg7 and the pattern is easy from there

kf6+
if knight takes its mate in one
and if king moves bxg7+ black has to take back and white can take the queen but no mate i think
