Festival 1991
An extraordinary last concert by Miles Davis at Montreux with the Gil Evans Orchestra and the George Gruntz Band directed by Quincy Jones is the main event of the Festival's 25th edition. Co-produced by Jones for the first time (and up until 1993), the program offers The Moody Blues, Sting in acoustic, Ray Charles, Jimmy Cliff, Allen Toussaint, Ashford & Simpson, Elvis Costello, Brenda Lee, George Benson, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Gianna Nannini, Milton Nascimento and Bootsy Collins. Blues fans appreciate B.B. King, Charles Brown and Otis Rush. With a From Bebop to Hip Hop evening, Quincy Jones corrals George Duke, Siedah Garrett, Chaka Khan, Henri Salvador, Dianne Reeves, Clark Terry and Al Jarreau together around the Count Basie Orchestra.
