If you want colourful, big, bold and beautiful then find a spot for this in your garden! ❤️ Rose Mallow or Rose Mallow Hibiscus is also known as perennial hibiscus in zone 4 to 8, comes in a variety of colours with green or reddish foliage, has massive dinner plate sized flowers and no doubt a show stopper when in full bloom from mid summer to early fall. I planted this late last summer and gave it time to get established and settle into it’s spot, in full view from where I sit at the front window, also facing east in a mixed perennial border. This perennial shrub variety varies from the tropical hibiscus which is an annual in these zones and will have to be brought indoors in fall. Before planting soak the plant in water, dig a hole and fill with water, once the water soaks in, add the compost and peat moss, set the plant in, cover, firm soil around, leaving a trench so that the water does not run off when watered, then mulch and water again. Add some slow release fertilizer, blood/bone meal in spring, also to keep rabbits from munching them.
