From the first couple of notes, it overtakes your heart and soul. It screams 19th century romanticism, but is evident that it's a Woman's voice. That woman is Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel who deserves her place amongst the great romantic composers of that era.

Wonderful performance of an unjustly forgotten wonderful quartet, what a pleasure to listen to the Selini Quartet. Our non-professional quartet (two women, two men) played the first two movements of the FM quartet at a musical retreat on Gabriola Island (west of Vancouver). Fanny's belated recognition is in global progress🤩

Excellent that this string quartet, composed by Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn, a sister to Felix, is played by four young women. This is wonderful music and this Selini Quartet gives it a wonderful treatment. Fanny was oppressed by that times thoughts about female musicians (she only could play at home) and hadn´t the same opportunities as Felix. Maybe will we hear more of Fannys music in the future? Thank you so much, Selini Quartet!
