Not all web developers are good at design, and that is OK! The trick is to keep it minimal and iterate! Remember, the most important thing about your project portfolio is your projects.

This was really cool to see some different designs and portfolios. It's given me some creative ideas for my own portfolio! Thank you!

These are all great minimalistic designs but if you "suck at design" you would not be able to design any of these websites. Minimalistic *does not* equal anyone can do it. There are more intricacies to the website designs shown than someone who is not a designer would know.

If you are a backend developer, a simple website does the job, it doesn't need to be fancy. No one is going to expect you to have a great frontend website.
If you are a frontend developer, do yourself a favour and put the time in to learn design. It'll go a long way. Open up Figma and play around, see what works, explore your creativity. You got this 👍

My portfolio now is based off a template cause I'm definitely no designer lol! But, this inspired me to at least give it a go on making a new minimalist/simpla portfolio!

I have a question, I will be aiming to get into my first ever Frontend Development job soon. I am creating a "portfolio" site but its not advertising my own skills. It is a mockup childcare site with my own designs and ideas, is this okay?

I am in the process of making my personal website. Fun fact - my website is all black/white and has a minimal theme. I think I can use alot of insights about design from these dev portfolios. Thanks Alex!

Oof. If this is what a minimal design portfolio looks like, I'm even worse at design than I thought...

Title can be improved
It is correct but intially i thought, you are reviewing portfolios of developers who suck at design.
