The Hussars also used firearms.

As for the wings, we aren't 100% sure they were battle dress or parade dress. If they were for battle some think they were for intimidation or to prevent being bound and dismounted by the lasso of the Tatar horsemen. But they might have had no battle purpose but were simply worn because it made them look cool as hell.

When confronting enemy cavalry, the wings serve to make the horse and hussar appear larger, chaotic and unsettling to the enemy horses. It always took concerted effort to train my horses to charge toward a larger moving item or creature that had unexpected moving parts. It was much easier training them to ignore audio irritation (like gunfire) than to ignore visual irritation.

actually the wings had greater pourpose ro scare the opponent in the heat of battle. They were ment to scare enemy horses by making a noise muliply it by tens or houndrets.

Father's on the wings made scary noises it would scare enemy horses as thay changed they were not just decoration it was part of psychological warfare

Since their lances were so long they could use hit and run tactics against pikemen formations and crush them
They basically made Pikemen lose in their own game
