As a Pole I could see that coming. Our medieval/renesans ( written in polish cuz i do not know its name in english) history was basicly "Did the Poles-Lithuanians did what almost everyone else in Europe? HELL. NO."

"there the Calvary version of the Roman legion" The mongols disliked that

Another aspect often left out is that they also used guns. They would circle enemy formations with a brace of pistols, and when they expelled all their shots, they'd retreat.

That would have been absolutely terrifying if you were an infantryman. You don't have shields or short ranged weapons because you trust in the safety of your lance, and then your entire formation gets charged through regardless.
And there probably wasn't a lot of training against heavy cav at that time, making the cav that much more effective.

The real reason why Poles stopped using them was price.
At first, nobels who joined to hussars company were having a Little salary for this, they were doing it for glory, not the money, but with the time they wanted more and more, but there were no cash for them.

Another reason why they were so good was how they were getting closer to enemg, it was mix of two schools, west school and east school.
West school was about charging in front of the enemy and going trough their formations just like heavy knights, East was about Quick movement, turning back suddenly etc. Just like tatars or mongols.

Except that they had a lot of weapons to use.
At first lance that was called "kopia" that really means "copy".
Then they could stab enemys with "koncerz" it was long sword but one handed, Just like rapier but koncerz was much longer, and you could only stab with him.
After that they could use "nadziak" or "czekan" these two are warhammers from east. Nadziak really looks like Hammer, czekan is similiar to it but czekan has axe. Hussars At your first Picture of hussar has czekan in hand.

Then they could use pistol, one or two but only one time because they haven't time for reloading it. Sometimes they could bring short tatars' bows.

And their last weapon was saber, there were a lot of types there were using, hussars saber ( not only hussars were using them), hungarian sabre, turkish (kilidż), pershian (szamszir) or karabela.
