Hydra rockets with a laser guidance retrofit package are the exact type of munition used by the VAMPIRE system. It's a palletized DIY kit that can be installed in the bed of any pickup truck by 2 guys in 2 hours using common tools. The conversion kit allows any pickup to become a cheap and easy DIY HIMARS lite platform.

It's probably the best way to go. Strapping these things to dumb rockets/bombs. I don't know the cost but I would assume these would be cheaper

They can be fired from the 2nd gen mraps. We call them SDSR, (small diameter smart rocket) they can be mounted on ground, air and marine systems. They are very hard to counter and can be directed by AI controlled drones. This includes swarm drones.

A good FDC can calculate the round's trajectory and velocity, matching it with the the target's location/trajectory, and velocity, hitting the target in motion with an area the size of a dime. That calculation isn't easy and is extremely time consuming, but when pulled off, it's a crazy sight.

An acquaintance of mine, Paul Henry develop that system at the JPL in Pasadena a long time ago so that we could drop a nuclear ballistic missiles on top of anyone’s head instead of a half a mile away which was the accuracy before he came along.

I have loaded a ton of these on A-10s, they are dope. My favorite story for them is the time that we accidentally rippled 6 of them on a single dude planting an IED...The guy, his IED, the road even his shovel was gone.

I'm surprised how many people have no damn idea what a true hypersonic missile or weapon means.

For a missile to be considered truly hypersonic it needs to travel above mach 5 AND be highly maneuverable.

If a missile is only moving at hypersonic speeds it's still a ballistic missile and simply follows a fixed trajectory.

The Kinzhal is just a ballistic missile that is dropped and eventually reaches hypersonic speed in an optimistic case, but usually is around mach 7. It's not highly maneuverable.

There are a dozen of ballistic missile that reach hypersonic speeds.
Example the SM-3 Block IIA.

The reason why Kinzhal missiles can be intercepted is just like any other ballistic missile that may travel hypersonic, if you detect it early enough and therefore have the trajectory your missile defense system like f.e Patriot is absolutely able to hit them.
Because it LITERALLY knows the trajectory.

Understand that accuracy is not in a sterile environment with radar, jamming, electronic systems, counter measures, etc, etc…
