Theres a number of things wrong with this video. First, he's checking the gap at the top of the bore and you can see carbon behind the ring. Ring should be pushed down bore to square up.Second if ring overlaps that much, there not the correct size for that engine. Third, I would not recommend using a grinder to size rings, theres nothing to square the ring, only your eye, slightest wiggle and thats it. Been reconditioning engines in NZ for 57 years and always use a proper ring grinder.

Instead of flat cutting.... put each end on a 45 degree.... that was you can have gapless rings and more compression ❤

i always run minimum of 0.5mm on any engine. no blowby and will never snap pistons in half

I did this in a pinch at work with our chain saw chain sharpener lol.. hand filed the last lil bit and made sure there was no edge to worry about.. All good!! 👍👍
