NASA is developing the procedures and training methods for astronauts to conduct moonwalk training at the agency’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The bottom half of the giant spacewalk training pool is being turned into a lunar landscape, where future Artemis crews will be weighted to match the moon’s gravity so they can practice moonwalking and whatever mission objectives they will be tasked with.

The first Artemis crew to fly to the moon on Artemis-2 will be announced later this year. The first landing is slated to be Artemis-3.

With thanks to NASA & Johnson Space Center for granting us access to see some of the work currently happening.
