I just found out tonight that my 3x great grandfather had over 70 deceased women sealed to him according to the no longer practiced "Law of Adoption". That was in addition to his 9 regular wives. It just keeps getting wilder and wilder!

Men received a Melchizedek priesthood manual each year - (80s and 90s, I lost interest after that ) -- that focused on a different prophet each year. Each book was prefaced by a short bio of that year's prophet and no matter how many wives he had, only his first wife was mentioned. No polygamous marriage and no subsequent wife was noted. The weird thing is that if you go on eBay or similar, it's really rare to find these manuals. I've heard rumors that the church is snapping up old copies of manuals and Books of Mormon.

People need to know what the LDS church does behind the closed door. My in laws( converts in 70s) who live in Utah havent been aware of the gospel topic essays for years. When we showed them, they said it was antimormon stuff and wouldn't accept the fact that it came directly from the official lds church website.
Sadly, many members do not know about the gospel topic essays, mainly outside of the US. They know that people would not join if they were told the true history.
