Daniel fast is a partial fast that involves eating a plant base diet of whole foods, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. It also involves abstaining from animal products, caffeine and alcohol. The fast is meant to imitate Daniel’s spiritual hunger, rather than replicate his menu. The goal is to spend less time with food and more time focusing on God. Reference scripture: Daniel 1:2 & Daniel 10:2-3.

Sister in Christ, I write this to teach and to edify. A FAST, is to ABSTAIN from ALL FOOD and WATER. The only other form of an acceptable biblical FAST to God, is water only. If you read the book of Daniel in the bible, everyone who follows this trend would see, that this does not follow God, nor his biblical text, and actually leads so many people, like yourself away from the principles of Fasting. This is more of a means of discipline and free will offering to God (choosing to sacrifice meat and good tasting things) for God to set yourself apart, like Daniel did for 3 years when King Nebuchadnezzar was teaching him and the other three boys. Stay blessed you all, and stop being thrown around by every wind of doctrine, because I can bet that many who do this saw someone else doing it, but NEVER ACTUALLY saw it in the bible. Just know that you displaying the fruit of the spirit of temperance/self control for these 21 days will separate you from the rest (like it did for Daniel for 10 days turned 3 years and NOT 21 days) strengthening your spiritual gifts and relationship with God, making you pure. WHICH comes with a load of its own blessings and miracles, to be in right standing with God! But this is not a fast, nor does it exist in the bible.
