I love this subject and Elizabeth of York.

I think the fact that he was an overall successful king is really amazing, given that he did not have any prior experience at the English court, when he took the throne!

Thank you for this fabulous overview of Henry VII, Claire. You are a wonderful historian!

What I find fascinating is Henry VII and Elizabeth of York had a loving marriage and he never took a mistress (that has been recorded anyway). I think this is remarkable considering his son's treatment of women with 6 wives and many mistresses. Henry VII was devoted to Elizabeth and was utterly devastated by her passing. Henry VII and Henry VIII were polar opposites when it came to marriage!

In my view he was the best of the Tudor monarchs and allow me to add one more fact: for anyone familiar with the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series and the "Game of Thrones" TV show, he's the main inspiration for the character of Daenerys Targaryen. On the run ever since he (she) was a child, chased by agents of the existing monarch, returning from exile with an army to take the throne, fighting under a banner with a red dragon on it.

Hi Claire! Pls speak as to how you believe (via your historical knowledge) Henry VII/his wife would feel about Henry VIII ref his wife jumping, wives executed, close associates executed, dissolution of the monasteries, financial matters, separation from Rome, etc...etc...Thanks so much😊

Henry 7'th mother, Margaret Beaufort was quite a political figure of her time She is believed to have played a significant tole in uniting the houses of Lancaster and York. I wonder what was the role of this ambitious woman during the rule of her son. Some say it was she who actually pulled the strings and orchestrated the royal policies.

I think it's interesting how Henry VII and Henry VIII are almost complete opposites.

Hi Claire, great video as always. Do you think Perkin could actually be Richard? I don't really think so but I would love to hear your opinion
