Always interesting to read the negative comments on these types of sports pursuits.

Whether is BASE jumping, free soloing, high lining, or any other dark art: these are simply people who are living their lives adventurously, enjoying the outdoors with friends, and performing at the highest level to show us what is possible, both physically and mentally.

They don’t have death wishes, but rather life wishes. They accept the risk, and are literally living their lives to the very fullest.

Awesome vid, and massive balls!

what about a backflip without the leash? :D

Nah... at least with free solo climbing I can understand the freedom that comes with not needing to worry about rope management... having a leash on high line don't affect the sport nearly the same way as rope climbing does...

Freesoloing when you're climbing means you can climb alone and you don't have safety gear slowing you down. What's the advantage of high slacking without a leash? Now you can die if you fall and I don't see the advantage.

When Steve Wallenda walked across Niagara Falls he was wearing a safety leash which actually was more impressive to me than if he had done it without the leash. For one thing he says he hated wearing it, so the fact that he did it anyway while being distracted by being annoyed by the safety leash is impressive.
Secondly, on that wire there was several weights hanging from the wire that the leash had to pass over. To this day I have been unable to learn how the safety leash was able to pass by each hanging weight.
There's probably a simple answer, but not knowing makes it seem very mysterious and magical.
To me it was incredibly impressive that he could do magic tricks while performing the magic of walking across the wire.

Good luck.
I am very interested in, what force is measured, at the edges, of the main rope.

One time in yosemite, my friends and i spotted an opening hidden inside a car tunnel. We explored and came out the other side to see a bunch of highliners traversing the side of the cliff. Very cool 🙂
