Three time slackline world champion Jaan Roose is attempting to set a new world record for the longest slackline. To do this he will walk across a 3.6 kilometre line suspended above the Messina Straits between mainland Italy and Sicily, exposed to the heat and changeable winds at the heights of over 200 metres above the sea.

The ammount of physical strain and focus you need to maintain your center of balance for 3 hours straight is insane. Truely a Herculean task.

I would think the uphill part at the end would be impossible considering how tired your core and legs must be by that point, what a sick feat of sheer willpower

The most amazing thing of this record was him holding both arms up in the air for three hours straight waving to me.

Spends three hours with his hands above his head. Celebrates by raising his hands over his head to wave. What a champ.

@ 3:09:47 my heart skipped a beat. Over all great job. I can only imagine what the wind, crazy heat, & the constant use of all his muscles too remain stable in the air felt like. Props for all your hard work! 👏🏼👏🏼

Everyone is talking about bravery and skill. But the patience and attention throughout is insane. Dude never doom scrolled on his phone 😂

Sitting here on my cozy balcony and I'm about as stressed out watching that than Jaan was most likely. AMAZING!!! That uphill battle at the end, seeing the finish line, the visual distortion and parallax of the Sicilian tower after being over the water for so long, must have been insane!

That was crazy! His fall-recovery at the end showed even more how truly skilled he is!

This is not a normal man. Jaan is Superman. More power to you. You will do more than what anyone else can never think about. Respect.

Even with safety precautions, that was absolutely incredible. Congrats That was fun to watch.

That's amazing. What's incredible is being able to walk "upslope" as the slack line steepens on the other end!

for anyone wondering, no he didn't break the record for the longest highline. For that he needs to walk start to end without falling. He did however break the record for longest distance walked continuously without falling since he only fell after walking past the previous highline record

WTF!?! 4km of line suspended that far & that high, under tension, & wind… I’d be crapping my pants worrying about that line breaking off from the connection points.
