Great tutorial, I have been timing traffic lights for about 30 years. When I first started it wasn't easy but after about one year I was getting the hang of it. Now days I don't even think about it, it just comes automatically. I save money, gasoline, time, wear & tear on myself and on my car. I can not remember the last time I had to have my breaks done on my car. $$$$😁👍

Very good. I was a trucker for 2 years, and this was one way we were taught to increase fuel mileage (plus avoid the headache of start/stops.) It takes a bit to get used to, and people will get upset and impatient being behind you. It's all worth it.

A good demonstration of the application of Acceleration Sense to traffic lights.

Somebody recently asked me about regenerative braking in a hybrid. Regen is a good way to re-capture some of the energy that you already expended to get the vehicle going. Braking, even regen-braking, ALWAYS wastes energy. 100% of the energy can't be recaptured.

It's far better to slow down at a distance back from a red light, and roll through it on a green light (although slower than you were driving) then it is to come to a stop (even with regen, ) only to have to waste gas to get going again.

I was taught in a tractor trailer School that most traffic lights are timed and if you just drive the speed limit a lot of times the timing will be perfect just to cruise on through without having to stop

Thanks, I will try this. My commute has lots of lights and I get stopped 90% of the time with fresh red lights. Probably half my commute is lights.

I hate the ones that go green for a while and back to red just before you get there

I've installed large magnets in the front of my vehicle. Now, when I'm on the freeway I just get behind a large truck and use the magnetic attraction along with drafting to increase my mileage. The other day a motorcycle accidentally got stuck to my front bumper. Oh well...
