I don't like a big rug under my bed because, to me, it's just a dust and dirt collector and would be hard to clean. I prefer my hardwood floors and soft area rugs on each side which are easy to clean.

Lisa your videos are always so entertaining. You have great presence on the screen. Whoever puts them together is doing a great job.

I definitely agree with your top 5 designs mistakes for bedrooms. For myself, however, a bed that is covered in many pillows seems down right ridiculous. I suppose you could use a lidded bench or storage container near or at the end of the bed but it still seems like a lot of unnecessary maintenance for someone who chooses to do all their own housework.

Previous owners of my house painted the master bedroom a pale buttery yellow. We wouldn't have chosen it, but we love it! It's like always waking up to sunshine! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Totally agree about not hanging anything above the headboard. I also don’t like chandeliers or fans directly above the bed for the same reason.

Great video Lisa! I would add:
A] Ginormous headboards. Towering cliff headboards taller than a fortress wall are the going thing, for sure, but sizing our fittings on the scale of a Russian oligarch only makes sense if our bedroom is of palatial proportions.
B] Bedrooms that look like a living room where the sofa bed is ready and made up; AKA, what not to do with a huge spacious bedroom. I see this a lot. If the bedroom is filled up with settees, armchairs, bookcases, sidetables, fireplace and TV, then the bed looks like an afterthought. No-one 's bedroom should give the impression that the residents are camping on the fold-out lounge; let a bedroom look like a bedroom.

Yes so much! So many interior designers are putting all sorts of things over the headboard and it is a head scratcher

Lisa, glad you’re back to doing these videos. Your content is a lot more useful than those on the live shows.

Speaking of not hanging anything over your headboard wall, as a teen, I had a tiny room and hung a heavy crucifix over my twin bed. It did come crashing down on my head at one point...and it hurt. I learned a lesson or two from that. I can laugh about it now! 🤣

Found cheap touch-on black mushroom lamps, 2 on bookcase headboard. Hand over my head, on/off 3 dims. 8 years, easy to replace, so far.

You're the only interior designer I watch, anywhere. I learn so much from you Lisa <3 May your YouTube channel grow with your knowledge and wonderful personality to boot! I especially enjoy your weekly live YouTube shows where you see a photo of a room and "What Would Lisa Do" segment is on. The slightest changes to a room make all the difference, and you see all of them. Those are my favourite shows from you right now, but I watch almost all of your channel stuff too. It's just great to have access to you and your excellence. Thank you.

Great vid! A few notes, though. I’d add as a “design no” sticking table and floor lamps in front of windows! They look awful not only in the room but awful from the street, regardless of the hour. So the one picture you showed as ok was not, IMO. Another issue I have is that textiles create a non-stoppable fiber dust and mite storm, air-wise. Bedding, mattresses, drapes, rugs all give off particulates, especially when they’re disturbed. Ever wonder why it gets so dusty under the bed? Because it’s everywhere else, but just doesn’t get disturbed to be noticeable!

If I take a day nap, I love taking it when the sun is shining in my bedroom the most! I only like it dark when it is dark. I love waking up with the sun shining in!

Sorry, Lisa, only place in small guest BR for twin bed with tall solid headboard is in front of double window, so I hung sheers and sheer embroidery panels across the entire wall.

A rug that covers the entire area under and aprox 3 feet to each side of a king side bed....tend to be very expensive. I think many buy smaller rugs due to cost and availability.

Bedrooms get out of control so quickly, even when well-planned, so this should be instructive. I want to awaken to see the outdoors, even if it's a highrise skyscape as my view. I am a fanatic about being able to read in bed when I'm home alone. I crack up at how funny you are about too-small rugs. LOL. They even look weird. EQ must be considered when doing walls above any sleeping furniture in the home. Warm colors are good for areas where one eats. Good examples, as always. Thx.
