Abba sure did have a lots of imitators! plus Baccara's biggest hit, The Jacksons, Donna Summer, Julie Covington's original rendition of Don't Cry for Me Argentina and...David Soul?!?! That's what I love about the UK charts they are so varied and full of surprises

Thank you.

So many didn't hit the Top 10 in the USA. Some didn't even hit the top 40, I think.

Some artists are totally unknown in the USA like Brotherhood and one that sang Angelo.

And now for the busiest year since 1974 in terms of how many reached the top of one or both of the "other" charts but blocked from the top spot "officially." Starting with:
- "Boogie Nights" by Heatwave
#1 on Melody Maker for 1 week - 12 March 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "When I Need You"; was likewise #2 on NME)
- "Going In With My Eyes Open" by David Soul
#1 on Melody Maker for 1 week - 09 April 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "Knowing Me, Knowing You"; also pinned down at #2 on NME)
- "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)" by Joe Tex
#1 on Melody Maker for 1 week - 04 June 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "I Don't Want To Talk About It" / "The First Cut Is The Deepest"; another where it also couldn't get past #2 on NME)
- "God Save The Queen" by the Sex Pistols
#1 on NME for 1 week - 18 June 1977
(Infamously blocked "officially" by "I Don't Want To Talk About It" / "The First Cut Is The Deepest"; alas, Mr. Rotten, Mr. Jones, Mr. Cook and Mr. Matlock got off lucky "officially" compared with Melody Maker which ensured it got no higher than #5, where it was kept off by not only the two-headed Stewart topper, but also "Ain't Gonna Bump No More, " "Lucille, " and "Love Theme From 'A Star Is Born' (Evergreen)" by Barbra Streisand)
- "Ma Baker" by Boney M
#1 on NME for 1 week - 16 July 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "I Feel Love"; also unable to nudge past the #2 spot on Melody Maker)
- "Magic Fly" by Space
#1 on NME for 3 weeks - 10, 17, 24 September 1977
#1 on Melody Maker for 3 non-consecutive weeks - 10, 17 September and 01 October 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "Way Down")
- "Oxygene (Part 4)" by Jean Michel Jarre
#1 on Melody Maker for 1 week - 24 September 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "Way Down, " "Magic Fly, " "Float On" and "Silver Lady"; NME had this one at #2)
- "Black Is Black" by La Belle Epoque
#1 on Melody Maker for 2 weeks - 15, 22 October 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "Silver Lady, " which was kept out of MM's top spot, as well as "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, " by this; on NME, this also went to #2)
- "You're In My Heart" by Rod Stewart
#1 on NME for 1 week - 29 October 1977
#1 on Melody Maker for 2 weeks - 29 October-5 October 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, " then by "The Name Of The Game, " plus "Black Is Black")
- "Rockin' All Over The World" by Status Quo
#1 on NME and Melody Maker for 1 week - 26 November 1977
(Blocked "officially" by "The Name Of The Game")

Conversely, "Lucille" was only the third "official" #1 (after Dana's "All Kinds Of Everything" and Mud's "Oh Boy") to be kept out of the top of the "other" charts; couldn't get past #2 in either NME or Melody Maker. Other "official" #1's that missed the top of either of the two "other" charts included:
- "Angelo" (Melody Maker - #2)
- "Float On" (NME - #2)
- "Silver Lady" (Melody Maker - #2)
- "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" (Melody Maker - #2)

If a concomitant "Hot 100 #1s for 1977" were produced, and the :06 second snippet length were to hold, I'd calculate its length at 3:17 - 4 seconds longer than this which I noticed sampled 8 seconds.
