Ash Ketchum Officially Leaves After 26 Years

Ash Ketchum's final Pokémon episode has aired in Japan, revealing the series finale of this Pokémon era. During the episode, Ash returns to Pallet Town and reunites with a few familiar faces. After becoming Pokémon World Champion, he also thinks about what he wants out of life next. Does Ash Ketchum's final Pokémon episode do the franchise justice?

Ash and Pikachu's journey comes to an end in Pokémon: Aim To Be A Pokémon Master episode 11. While our heroes will continue their adventures off-screen, the Pokémon Company has announced a brand new anime that will follow new characters and stories!

“Rainbow” really is the perfect theme for an ending. Not only does it reference Ho-oh and a rainbow forming after a harsh storm, but it encapsulates all of the colors of the previous games! It’s great to see Ash finally reach his goal instead of being stuck inside some Sisyphus-style purgatory, just like Butterfree we need to let him fly away.
