Directed by: Kelly Reichardt
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, Laura Dern, & Jared Harris

One of America’s foremost filmmakers, Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff) directs a remarkable ensemble cast led by Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart, and Laura Dern in this stirring look at three women striving to forge their own paths amidst the wide-open plains of the American Northwest: a lawyer (Dern) who finds herself contending with both office sexism and a hostage situation; a wife and mother (Williams) whose determination to build her dream home puts her at odds with the men in her life; and a young law student (Stewart) who forms an ambiguous bond with a lonely ranch hand (radiant newcomer Lily Gladstone). As their stories intersect in subtle but powerful ways, a portrait emerges of flawed, but strong-willed individuals in the process of defining themselves.

I have lived in the remote West. I found this film very true to life. It captured the people, the land, and the towns. The movie caused me to reflect. In a way, it was disturbing.

3 separate story lines. Interesting enough vignettes, but I didn't see any connect between the three stories. What I got out of it was there's not always a happy ending and life goes on.

Normally I like indie/alternative movies, but this so bad. There was literally no point to the Michelle Williams storyline. It's what you see in the trailer - a married woman that seems to hate her husband, as they roam around trying to get some old guy to give them the chunks of rock from his yard. That is LITERALLY IT. The Laura Dern attorney storyline was more happening, as it involves a hostage situation. And the only thing that was good about the Lily Gladstone/Kristen Stewart storyline was that you get to see some spectacular Montana scenery. That storyline in general really FEELS Montana. But it's a pointless story as well. Nothing happens. No character development. No progress of anything. I truly can't believe this movie was made. The writer/director has to have had connections to get it done, because if she didn't, and she was a true nobody, the script would have been rejected by every studio. She needs to learn the art of storytelling and character development. And again, this is coming from somebody who normally digs indie movies, as well as movies with negative endings, and movies that depict real life in a way that's so realistic that it becomes almost triggering to watch. So that says a lot about just how bad this movie was. !!

I love indie movies, but this one was really boring to me. It's peaces of ordinary lifes shown realistically, witch I love, but I didn't see any point in it. Boring as hell. The only character I found interesting was kristen stewart's. I had to take breaks in the entire movie, it was a struggle.

Do women actually think that just because one is a man that other men will simply listen and say okay?

What a boring...low energy movie...it drags on and on.. and worst part of it all is all they do is speak in low soft voices... and walk around mumbling their lines... it's nearly impossible to understand what they are saying...

Looks good, but must we always have a lesbian angle?
