Budget hearings are meant to make sure that PUBLIC FUNDS are allocated properly and public officials responsible are accountable and should be transparent on how this budget is spent. So terminating the budget hearing based SOLELY on “tradition” is problematic. While respecting tradition and certain customs can streamline and simplify processes, IT SHOULD NOT AND NEVER OVERRIDE the core principle of accountability in the government. It’s apparent where Marcoleta’s loyalty lies, and it’s obviously not on the Filipino people.

Perhaps its about time for the people of the Philippines to mandate the executive, the congress and the judiciary, to include the LGUs that they publish their budgets and how they spend/spent their budget, for the people to know ... publishing it via newspapers, websites or any means for the people to know.
I highly agree in scrutinizing how public officials spend their allocated budgets and spending's but it should be for all, no excuses and that does not only include the OVP or the OP but each member of congress and senate and so on ... budget hearings can be led by DBM and COA with selected representatives from senate and congress ...
