Little disclaimer:
General shadows setting, DOES NOT affect the shadows like it used to be in ark, ONLY the quality of the shadows lower but NOT the quantity or the view distance of it, just set it to medium, this way you gain a few fps and the shadows look normal enough

For anyone who didn't know, "Enable Foliage & Fluid Interaction" is the setting that causes constant crashes for a lot of people (for me it's literally every few minutes). I haven't crashes a single time since disabling it. The only problem is having this option disabled causes small rocks and leaves to float in the air.

You're a Legend. Thanks for the help. Instantly got 40 more FPS with the cloud command and was able to bring other settings into the Epic/High realm with a steady 60 or better FPS. Cheers TC!!!

Almost a year later and "clouds" and "fog" totally saved me. Buttery smooth now. Cheers!

I love it. “Wildcard, can you build a game with insane graphics so my computer can’t run smoothly. Then I can just make all the settings at the lowest quality so we get that Mud setting.. you know.. like Ark 1 style.” Great stuff.

Should rename video to "How to get rid of all the things that unreal engine does that makes ARK ascended different from ARK"

For all the people who came here after Scorched Earth release. The best settings that impact ur fps THE MOST (from my experience) are:
- Frame generation: ON (general - video)
- Super resolution: Balanced/Performance (general - video)
- Advanced graphics: Epic (general - graphics)
- View distance: Low (general - graphics)

P.s: Advanced graphics at epic was a HUGE boost to my fps. At medium i got a measly 30 - 40 fps, at high i hit 60 and at epic i capped at 80. I have a 4060 graphics card and 16G ram, so there’s still lots of room for improvement (like 32G ram would boost alot).

Great vid! But,

I watched a bunch of these videos and they do increase FPS but make the game look like ass. I recommend going though the settings yourself and changing things 1 by 1 and see how they look for you. Some don't effect FPS much if not at all and can be left at epic (Global illumination for me caused flickering when not at low or epic and the difference between low and Epic was like 3 fps). Same goes with the console commands. Disabling volumetric clouds does increase FPS but makes walking through forests look like ass with lower settings. The clouds hide a lot of the lower graphics settings.

TL;DR Go through settings yourself 1 by 1 to see which combination of settings looks good and performs well for you.

Look, I've seen about 10 vids talking about settings and You killed Them all. Many details, I can take inspiration for other games settings too. Thx Bro!!!

HLOD stands for Hierarchical Level Of Detail personally dont know what it does but i turned it off and got about 10-15 extra fps without noticing any graphical reduction at all. So for anyone struggling try and enable that in settings.

Edit: Btw for your info im playing on a 3070 with a 5600X and 16GB Ram 8GB VRam

I went through your Windows tutorial for optimization and now this one. I went from 67 FPS to over 140 fps. The game played between 122-140 fps. Thank you. GTX 4080, 128GB ram. win 11, Ryzen 9. Corsair cooler.

Just a friendly reminder you can also use in commands type stat fps and stat unit you don't have to use msi afterburner or steams fps counter the command works admin or not all around the game

I have a 6700xt/ R9 5900x and was getting 30-40 fps, now I'm getting 100+ and I'm actually turning settings up to lower it back down. It's probably more so that I don't know how to optimize my pc, but I'm learning. Thank you for the video.

as a pc gaming enthousias HLOD means High Level Of Details, which basically make the game actively render fine and minute details at great distances .

Hey guys, if you're looking for some console commands, just copy this whole thing and paste it in the thing, it may make your game look a little bit worse but it'll get your frames up.
